Never again ! I thought they were honest and a good garage, but they kept encouraging me to pour money in my car when it was time to sell it as is. Do not trust their smile and politeness, they only think of profit.
Scam artists! Don’t trust them! Although most repairs are done well, they overcharge in labour and milk customers for repairs that are not required! BEWARE!
When I first took my car to Young St Garage I was a bit reluctant because I was quoted such a high estimate at the dealership for the repairs and tune up I was looking for at the time. To my surprise the shop had a very welcoming and approachable environment, the advisers were very knowledgeable and thorough with the concerns I had with my vehicle. I inquired if they had a loaner vehicle I could borrow while my car was under repairs, at no extra charge I was given the keys to the garage’s ML, Mercedes SUV. It was very clean and convenient… Until I crashed it… I felt terrible, I confronted the shop’s owners and managers whom were glad to see that I wasn’t harmed, yet still upset with the dilemma. I offered to repair all the damage to their car. I was given a great deal of courtesy throughout my visit at Young St Garage. Needless to say, my car was returned to me with all its prior issues repaired, and the tune up left it running very smooth, almost new again. The best part of all, the price they charged me was almost half of what the dealership had quoted me for.
I was told this place is honest and fair price but after I gave them a try I regret taking my Mercedes here. I would of got my Mercedes diagnose properly the first time and paid less if I had taken it to the dealer instead. I took it in for repairs and they diagnose the problem wrong. They changed a part that was working fine and charged me for parts and labour. After a few days I had the same issue and brought it back to them for the same problem it had the first time and the excuse was that the part was defective and this was a new problem. The second time they charged me even more and was not ready to accept there wrong diagnostic in the first place. These guys are friendly and polite but NOT HONEST AND TRUST WORTHY. If I had taken it to the dealer in the first place it would have been diagnose properly and fixed the first time and not have to pay two bills.
Excellent service. Knowledgeable technicians. Very honest. Price is a bit above small independent garages but less than the dealer. It’s worth paying a little to keep you car running reliably. I think Young Street Garage is the best auto repair shop in Ottawa, especially for European make cars.
I am a former tech for a German company. I know what I am talking about. My experience at Young street garage was unexpectedly horrible. Brake service – done without cleaning the anchors, pads, or calipers at all. Rust present in all the areas supposed to be clean. – Exactly – the same as when I brought it in. I have not seen a worse job done in my career. I paid for nothing. An awful job. I cannot say enough about that. They lied about warning lights being on the dash, and after completing the job, I now had permanent faults. They actually wanted to make me pay for a scan to find the issue. Additionally, they way over quoted me for the part they would not say for sure is the cause unless I pay for a diagnosis, and refused to do this work unless I bought their part, with their markup. As a tech I have access to cost for parts (through my former German dealership) The funny thing is I brought my own part for the initial visit for the problem I came in for, and not once did anyone say (I spoke specifically about this job to both service advisors) they do not install parts customer supplied.. Only when they had my car in the garage with the problem did they inform me of this ‘Policy’. Here is the actual answer I received – “You know you cannot do that because its like you bring your own steak to a restaurant and ask them to cook it” Unreal. Such a disparate analogy. I could go on with a few other minor, unprofessional things. I will just say all around a terrible experience. Oh they also just ignored one of the jobs clearly on the work order and simply did not do it.. Yes Its true.

If you want to WASTE YOUR MONEY, go here. They will LIE to increase the bill. Greedy sociopaths provide two-faced service! A real nightmare.
